TREASUREFIX 2.0

Now a living, breathing weekly treasure hunt experience. Every Tuesday, a new digital treasure challenge drops — four (4) weekly hunts per month — varying between styles, difficulty levels, and two prize formats: Shared Bounty or First Finder.

HOW IT WORKS

Each hunt is freely accessible by all; try to solve one or many, all at no cost! But be warned: as the hours pass, the price of a Solve Key goes up. In other words, commit earlier to get a better return on your winning solve! Your best bet? Become a monthly subscriber for the lowest price of entry by far!

"Treasurefix 25/25” Subscribers (one-tier subscription program, $25/month per user) get automatic access to every weekly hunt, with one single-use Solve Key (per hunt) included with your subscription. Subscribers also get a 25% discount on Solve Key purchases for our larger hunts (discount also applies to additional Solve Key purchases for weekly hunts).

The prize pool for every hunt is calculated on an 80/20 basis (80% of entry fees to the prize pool). Some hunts (like our Big Hunts) will be “seeded” with minimum guaranteed prize pools, regardless of the number of entries purchased.

FAT TUESDAYS

In months with a fifth Tuesday, things level up. Four times per year, we’ll drop one of two special edition hunts. These special edition treasure hunts are open to subscribers (at a 25% discount) and non-subscribers alike.

BIG HUNTS

Large-scale treasure hunts, often with a BOTG (“boots on the ground”) element, and minimum guaranteed prize pools of $10,000. These hunts will be of varying lengths, but carry our unique “Solve Guarantee," ensuring a winner(s) within a guaranteed timeframe.

Treasure or No Treasure

TONT REDUX

Our exclusive “Treasure or No Treasure” format, with escalating stakes and limited entry. TONT is an "Elimination" Hunt where, in each round, you must correctly eliminate the chest(s) based on the clues provided in order to move on to the next round.

SUBMITTING YOUR SOLVE

Every solve submission gives instant feedback — correct solves lock in immediately, either ending the hunt (First Finder) or securing your share of the prize pool (Shared Bounty). An incorrect solve submission invites you to try again, if you dare!

Whenever possible, the solve will be revealed to you verbatim. If, however, you are uncertain about how to format a particular solve, start with the guidelines below. Our system is designed to accept multiple forms/variations as correct where any potential ambiguity exists, so don’t stress out too much trying to decide on the “correct” submission form for a particular keyword solve.

If you are certain you have solved the puzzle but our system returned a negative result (and you have already double-checked the spelling/format), reach out to us and we'll manually verify your submission.

CRAZY HORSE

PERSON

If your solve is the the Lakota war leader "Crazy Horse," that, as well as entries such as "CRAZYHORSE" or "crazyhorse" or "crazy horse" would be accepted as correct. Note, spelling DOES count (though the system will account for multiple accepted spelling variations, if applicable), so pay close attention before submitting!

CRATERLAKE

PLACE

If your solve is a city, park, or other location, there will be a decent amount of "latitude" but solves such as "Crater Lake" or "Crater Lake Park" or "Crater Lake National Park" would all be accepted as correct. For a city, "Atlanta" or "Atlanta GA" or "Atlanta, Georgia" or even "ATL" would all be acceptable submissions.

DECLARATION

DATE

Let's say you find a solve you believe to be the date of a certain event. In this case, "July 4, 1776" or "July 4 1776" or "7/4/1776" or "07-04-1776" or "4 july 1776" -- or even "4/7/1776" for our friends from across the pond -- would all be accepted as correct solves.

PULP FICTION

OTHER

If your solve is something else, pay attention to what the hunt is asking for and use your best judgment. Our goal is (or at least might be) to make the hunt difficult, not to make the solve submission difficult once you have cracked the code. In other words, when in doubt, don't overthink it!

STRATEGY MEETS SKILL

Prize pools automatically update in real time as additional Solve Keys are purchased (or new subscribers join), so you’ll always have an idea of what you’re "playing for" — but because you don’t know when a First Finder hunt will be solved, or how many others have already correctly solved a Shared Bounty hunt, the overall strategy requires more than just puzzle-solving acumen (especially if your first solve attempt is incorrect!).

So what do you do if you’re 80% sure of your solve on Day 1? Take a chance and submit early so you can try again (rather cheaply) if you’re incorrect? Or do you wait, but risk someone else submitting the correct solve (thereby eliminating the chance of clues), and then box yourself in to either a single attempt or a costly retry?

With instant feedback (and emailed proof of your correct submission, but not the actual solve itself) might you try to secure some present or future value by trading your correct solve to a friend or foe? Or might you try to mislead (or might someone try to mislead you) with a “solve” that turns out to be false?! The possibilities are endless, and endlessly entertaining.

With TREASUREFIX 2.0, we are turning treasure hunting into an evolving strategy game — part puzzle, part marketplace, part social experiment — where timing, intuition, and nerve matter just as much as the clues.

FAQs

  1. What skills or experience must I possess?

None! We’ve said it before but we’ll say it again: our goal is to offer something totally new and unique by blending traditional treasure hunting methods and concepts with our own special sauce. We aim to challenge and reward members of all skill and practice levels. That being said, we also encourage investigation and knowledge-acquisition at all turns, so it’s never too early to start exploring an unfamiliar cipher-application technique, or learning about some famous treasure hunts from the past!

  2. For BOTG hunts, what exactly am I searching for?

Great question! Our physical “treasures” will typically be in the form of a redemption code or solve key (think small container that could hold a small scroll). This ensures that we are notified upon its successful location and can call off the hunt for everyone else as soon as practical. We will never bury anything that is meant to be found, so you should never dig up or otherwise disturb any land for any reason.

  3. Is all of your content original and/or unique?

Yes! Our small creative team — led by Nails, our Chief Hunting Officer — conceptualizes and creates all of our treasure hunts. A note here on AI since it seems appropriate in this day and age: We do occasionally use AI as a limited and supplemental resource, and you are of course free to use AI as a tool to attempt to solve any of our hunts. (Though we are pretty confident in our ability to make our solves effectively immune to AI!)

  4. Can I team up with another searcher?

You are free to work with others and/or share elements of any solve you are working on. Just remember — only the first person (i.e., the individual account holder) to submit the correct solve with a valid Unique Solve ID will be legally entitled to the reward; so carefully consider what you share, and with whom. In other words, we are unable to enforce any reward-sharing agreements you decide to make on your own.

  5. How do I know this is all legit?

Some measured skepticism is always healthy in the world of treasure hunting! The best we can hope to do (at least for some people) is earn some skepticism-depreciation over time. And we have taken a variety of measures and actions — both visible and behind the scenes — to do just that. At the very least, through our content, we hope that you can see and feel our passion and commitment to our mission. Also, we've handed out over $10,000 USD in rewards thus far, with plenty more on the way.

  6. What is next for TREASUREFIX?

Take a seat, because we have big plans! The most exciting part of this endeavor for us is that the content-creation possibilities expand exponentially with the growth of our treasure hunting community. An early target as our user base grows will be localized “flash” hunts where, on short notice, you will be tasked with finding a treasure, perhaps in your own hometown or a nearby city. Or, imagine going to the movie theater (or your smart TV) to watch a new feature film; only instead of just watching and enjoying the film, you are gathering clues in search of the film’s associated treasure.
