"Keyword" (a.k.a. Digital) Solves

  • Whenever possible, the solve will be revealed verbatim. If, however, you are uncertain about how to format a particular solve, start with the guidelines below. Our system is designed to accept multiple forms/variations as correct where any potential ambiguity exists, so don’t stress out too much trying to decide on the “correct” submission form for a particular keyword solve.
    • If your solve is the the Lakota war leader "Crazy Horse," that, as well as entries such as "CRAZYHORSE" or "crazyhorse" or "crazy horse" would be accepted as correct. Note, spelling DOES count.
    • If your solve is a city, park, or other location, there will be a decent amount of "latitude" but solves such as "Crater Lake" or "Crater Lake Park" or "Crater Lake National Park" would all be accepted as correct.
    • Let's say you find a solve you believe to be the date of a certain event. In this case, "July 4, 1776" or "July 4 1776" or "7/4/1776" or "07-04-1776" or "4 july 1776" -- or even "4/7/1776" for our friends from across the pond -- would all be accepted as correct solves.
  • If you are certain you have solved the puzzle but our system returned a negative result (and you have already double-checked the spelling/format), reach out to us and we'll manually verify your submission.

“BOTG” (a.k.a. Physical) Solves

  • Physical items will never be hidden in a location that is dangerous to access or arrive at. Additionally, items will never be hidden in a location that requires water travel (e.g., swimming or traveling by raft, canoe, boat, etc.) to access or arrive at.
  • You will never need to trespass or engage in illegal activity of any kind to access or arrive at the location of any hidden physical items. If you are engaging in illegal activity, or even thinking about it, you are not on the right path.
  • No physical items will ever be buried under the ground. You will never need to dig up or otherwise disturb any land in any way, under any circumstances.
  • Be mindful of the presence of wildlife (bears, snakes, etc.) and hunters in any search area, and be mindful of your own physical limitations. We cannot practically cover all scenarios here, just use sound judgment at all times when it comes to when, where, and how you decide to go looking for hidden physical items. Search with a buddy whenever possible, avoid dangerous conditions, and bring plenty of water.
  • Search areas are currently limited to locations within the continental United States.
